Our Services

Prenatal Care – Comprehensive prenatal care is the cornerstone of midwifery care. Our initial prenatal visit is one hour; all other prenatal visits are generally scheduled for 30 minutes to ensure that you have all of your questions answered & that we have time to discuss your health, nutrition and life happenings in order to build a solid relationship with our client families. Partners are encouraged to attend when possible and siblings are always welcome. 

Labor and Birth – At The Birth Center, pregnancy and birth are treated as a natural process, not a medical procedure. We encourage our laboring mothers to move, walk, eat, drink, shower, use a birth ball or labor in the tub— whatever their bodies tell them to do! There will be two midwives assisting you while in labor providing labor support, comfort measures and medical monitoring. Water birth is an option as well. When it is time to give birth, the woman follows her body to get into the best position: hands and knees, squatting, sitting, lying on her side, or whatever feels right. The result is a relaxed, empowered woman laboring effectively to birth her child naturally and safely. The midwife stays with you for your entire postpartum stay. Infants are never separated from mothers. They stay skin-to-skin and nurse during the first couple hours. In the absence of complications, you will be discharged home approximately 2-3 hours postpartum as a new family!

Postpartum and Newborn Care – We develop a strong relationship with our clients over the course of their pregnancy. We strive to continue that into the postpartum period with:

• Telephone contact at 24 hours

• Home postpartum visit at 1-2 days after birth

• Office Visit at 2 weeks postpartum

• Office Visit at 6 weeks postpartum

• The birth certificate is filed through the birth center, and the social security card will be sent through the mail. 

Breastfeeding Support - Breastfeeding can be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences a woman can have. We can help you navigate these challenges for a successful breastfeeding journey.
